How To Check Out Materials
The CIAESC Resource Library contains a variety of current resource materials and makes them available on a loan basis (free of charge) to adult education programs and staff throughout the area served by the Illinois Service Center Network. Patrons of the Resource Library can find useful materials from basic literacy needs to ESL, professional resource information, employability skills, and specific competency areas like English language mechanics, math, reading, social studies, and science. Resource Library holdings include classroom and professional print materials, videos, computer software, audio, and multimedia items. New resource materials are added to the library on a regular basis to meet the assessed needs and interests of patrons.
Patrons may search the catalog in five ways (either separately or in combination):
- Resource Type
The library contains Classroom Print, Professional Print, Disk Software, CD-ROM Software, Video, Audio and Multimedia materials as well as a variety of CIAESC Products. Use the databases' pull-down menu to select the specific resource type and click Start Search.
- Category
The resources found in the library have been classified into more than 40 different subject categories. Library patrons can access the pull-down menu to select a specific category.
- Title
Enter the entire title or individual words contained in the title.
- Author
Search by last name of the author only or search by the author's last name and first name (separated by a comma) to narrow search results.
- Keyword
Patrons may also conduct searches for resources by entering a word or phrase in this field of the search form. The database will search for all library item descriptions that contain those word(s).
Library patrons using Explorer or Netscape (any Windows/Mac version) are encouraged to utilize the library's online checkout cart. Please ensure that cookies are enabled in your browser.
After locating resource(s) using the Library Search Form, additions may be made to your shopping cart
by clicking on the shopping cart icon located immediately to the left of the resource title.
If you'd first like to see the complete record of information for the resource, click on the
title (underscored link) and then on Add to Cart to continue.
Next select the appropriate action (New Search, Back to Search Results, View Cart, or Check Out).
Clicking on View Cart or Check Out provides patrons with the opportunity to remove that item
from your cart and search again or finalize the checkout.
The patron's first name, last name, job title, deliver to address (street address only,
no PO boxes), day phone, and program name are REQUIRED for checkout from the CIAESC
Resource Library. Choose a program name from the pull down list or manually enter your program name in the other program field.
There is no limit to the number of items that may be checked out by individual patrons. However, first-time library users are limited to four items, with established patrons being able to check out up to ten items per request. A confirmation of your order will immediately be processed by the online system, and the items (if available) will be shipped to you within a few days of receipt. Please note the order number that has been assigned or print the page from your browser for future reference.
Items should be returned to CIAESC at the end of the check out period. If you need to extend your check-out, please call us at (800) 572-9033 or email GK-Henderson@wiu.edu to make arrangements. Please note that return postage is the only cost incurred by patrons using the CIAESC Resource Library.
